Using a donut cutter, cut the dough into rounds. Using a smaller biscuit cutter or apple corer, cut out the center of each round, so the cookie dough resembles a donut. Place the cookie rounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool on a cooling rack. Mix the sugar and butter together.

Awarded in 2021, the cast aluminum sign with raised yellow and white lettering is featured prominently on the grounds of the Village Commons and reads: "Chocolate Jumbles, regional cookie variety made with chocolate, molasses and spices. So popular, judged at Schoharie County Fair as early as 1916.".

Borst (1885-1936) of Esperance was the first woman elected to a county position in Schoharie County, in 1919. In 1916, an award for jumbles was given out at the Cobleskill now Schoharie County Fair. In 1939, Mrs. Foster W. Taylor won a prize from the Brer Rabbit Molasses Company for her Chocolate Jumble recipe.
