No it absolutely is not, in fact, certain Syrian hamsters (often females) find the detolf too small because of how narrow it is. There is no such thing as too big an enclosure for a Syrian hamster. There Is not such thing as a too big cage for hamsters. I have no experience with syrians tho so I can't really help haha.
