So, it's been a while since my last Witcher 1 playthrough, but I recall something about the curse being reactivated. Meaning, someone found a way to turn her into a striga again. As a result, Foltest hires you to (ideally) lift it again, seeing as Geralt was successful the first time.

Okay, I checked the wiki for the following info, so I'm only as accurate as that is - the dialogue in the second game depends on Adda's fate in the first game. There is an outcome in the Witcher 1 in which Adda dies, so the dialogue the Witcher 2 changes depending on what happened to her in the first. Now, I'm not sure why Adda would be dead.
