Located a short stroll from Amsterdam Centraal Station is De Poezenboot, translation: "The Catboat"! This is a shelter for cats situated on a converted house-boat on canal Singel 38-G.

The Catboat (De Poezenboot) is a unique houseboat that is turned into an animal shelter. It is run by a group of volunteers with a big heart for animals and cats in particular. The Poezenboot - The Catboat takes in 200-250 cats per year. Strays, foundlings, abandoned and dumped cats who desperately need help and shelter. On the boat they are cared for, vaccinated, chipped and castrated, and they receive the necessary care in case of illness or injury.
