This is a good question. Yes, the Kanji for right 右 (MIGI) looks very similar to the kanji for stone 石 (ISHI). But looking at them side by side, you will notice the vertical stroke extends beyond the horizontal stroke in MIGI. It is flush with the horizontal stroke in ISHI.
