The geared top speed for the 609d is 71mph (theoretical) and that is @ 2800 rpm, which is mechanically governed, so you shouldn't exceed 71mph going downhill.

#1 hi there i am new to this forum, i recently bought a 609D mercedes bus. it used to be a disabled council bus. 1993 - long wheelbase 3.9 ltr manual with PA steering and wheelchair lift at the rear. I am trying to find out what the unloaded weight of the bus would be if it were empty with just the weight of the driver.
