It was owned as a joint venture between Cubanacan, a Cuban tourism company, and a syndicate of Canadian businesses. In December 2005 the Canadians sold their interest to an Anglo-Dutch syndicate, and the owners engaged the Spanish group NH Hotels as operator.

No bugs whatsoever, food was much better than I expected, and the beach is fabulous. I had a large room, very clean and the maid made sure I always had clean towels & a bottle of water.

Don't quote me on that but at the very least, I know that it is available. While there, you GOTTA meet Freddy the bartender on the Emperador side.
