Thunder Creek Falls is a 28m (92 feet) high waterfall that feeds into the Haast River. The waterfall is fed by melting glacier water and the entire area is pristine. It is definitely one of the best destinations on the South Island. The waterfall is made up of one single stream that bursts out from the steep cliffs that line the Haast River.

Thunder Creek Falls is one of the highest, most easily accessible waterfalls in New Zealand at 98 metres. The car park is on the side of State Highway 6, about a km or so after you pass over the Gates of Haast bridge heading west. It is only a few minutes walk to the Haast River and viewing platform, with the Falls directly opposite.
