Huntsman Lake lies approximately 20 km south of Deloraine. It's an easy, scenic drive via the small town of Meander. As most anglers know, the lake is only a few years old. It was formed in 2007 with the construction of the Meander Dam. The lake is fed by the Meander River and also by several small streams.

Lake Huntsman is an artificial lake created in 2007 in Tasmania, Australia, with the construction of the Meander Dam, which backed up the waters of the Upper Meander River and the various creeks and rivulets that flowed into it from the Great Western Tiers meltwater. Lake Huntsman provides irrigation water to the Meander region and generates electricity for the Huntsman Lake Power Station.[1]

Anglers are enjoying some good fishing at Huntsman Lake. After recent rain the lake is rising over new ground and the brown trout have been foraging close to shore feeding on worms and drowned terrestrials. One angler checked by Fisheries Officers this week had landed two nice brown trout fishing worms under a bubble float.
